I want to make one thing clear, this is not rumour, I'm not grinding that old mill again, what I have in front of me are cold hard facts and those facts are the system requirements.
While we know that modern operating systems now require more power to run in general, we was surprised to see such a big leap, given that most low end notebooks are capable of running the original in a Windows XP / Vista / Win7 environment, with some tinkering to alleviate a few compatibility issues with modern OS's of course.
NEW Minimum System Requirements:
- Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
- 2GHz Processor or faster
- 1GB RAM
- DirectX 9-compatible graphic card
Original Minimum System Requirements:
- Windows 95 compatible system
- DirectX 5.0
- Intel Pentium 133 (recommended Pentium 200)
- 4 megs Video Card (8 megs 3D accelerator recommended)
- 32 megs of RAM
- 4x CD-ROM
- DirectX 5.0 compatible sound card (AWE64 or XG-MIDI compatible recommended)
We do know how ever that Square Enix will be attending next months Gamescon, where all eyes should be on Square Enix, for who knows what they will be showing. We tried to ask nicely, but we were equally nicely told "we're not allowed to say anything right now".
